Starry Night tea has red, sparkly color. The taste is full of almonds and apples sprinkled with cinnamon. Since we've added some candied fruits, a careful drinker may notice a hint of exotic flavor.
Origins
Since you'll notice almonds first, let's start with those. They may be considered nuts, but almonds are actually the kernels of a almond tree fruit. These delicious snacks originated in the sunny Mediterranean region, where almond trees (Prunus dulcis) grows. Experts believe they used to grow in Central Asia, Persia, China and Asia Minor as well as north Africa. The kind of almonds that's widely available has been bred to be sweeter with lower amounts of amygdalin, which is bitter and can pose a hazard in high amounts. Nowadays, almonds are mainly cultivated in California, where the farmers offer up to 30 different sweet varieties.
After harvest, almonds are roasted in sugar to achieve their rich, nutty flavor with hints of caramel. They're incredibly crunchy and their flavor dominates this entire tea blend.
Sweet almond are a favorite snack to go along with wine, used in desserts, christmas cookies and marzipan as well as liqueurs such as amaretto.
Starry Night also contains apples, papaya, pineapple, beetroot, cinnamon and raisins. To round the exotic flavor, we've also added some coconut.
